to GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR MISTAKES |
- Acknowledge the mistake immediately, using clear, simple words.
- Figure out what caused the problem. This is the time to take steps
to help you uncover the weaknesses or flaws in your procedures or thinking.
- Ask yourself, “How can I prevent this from happening again?” If
others were involved, seek their input.
- Forgive yourself. We all make mistakes. Remember the adage: If
you’re
not making mistakes, you’re not trying hard enough. Plan time to market.
If you’re having trouble finding the time to market your business, either
set aside a fivehour period once a week - and hire someone else to answer
the phone for the afternoon - or set a goal to accomplish one marketing
task each day. For instance, send out letters to five people who have
just become new customers to thank them, or send notes and information
to five different editors, writers, or producers.
